1. Independence and public-interest purpose
Coverage decisions are made for informational and editorial reasons. Rankings, inclusion, exclusion, language, scores and conclusions are not sold. Advertising, sponsorship, free product, travel, samples, dealer status, affiliate compensation and any other material connection must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed beside the relevant coverage. A commercial relationship does not purchase favorable treatment or advance access to a verdict.
Mr. Window Tint may earn revenue from installation bookings through MobileTinter, which is owned by founder Steve Krontz, and may later sell film to installers. Those interests are disclosed beside the relevant action. Evidence status is derived only from the visible performance and test-condition fields, and no commercial relationship can change those inputs.
2. Evidence hierarchy
- Confirmed: supported by a primary document or direct on-record statement, such as a technical data sheet, certification, warranty entity, safety data sheet, corporate filing, contract, product label or manufacturer statement.
- Corroborated: supported by multiple independent, attributable sources but not yet closed by primary documentation.
- Reported: attributed to a named publication, forum participant, installer or other source. Attribution describes who made the claim; it does not adopt the claim as fact.
- Industry lead / rumor: a question worth investigating. It is displayed with dotted-line treatment and cannot support a factual manufacturing-origin conclusion.
- Manufacturer undisclosed: the source factory, legal manufacturer or necessary test condition is not identified in the public materials reviewed as of the displayed audit date.
3. White-label and manufacturing claims
Similarity in specifications, shade codes, liner, packaging, color, installation behavior, roll dimensions, import records or forum discussion is not enough to identify a manufacturer. A source relationship is named only when direct documentary evidence closes that specific relationship. Where evidence proves that a company manufactures or offers private-label services but does not identify its customers, we report the capability and leave customer-brand connections unconfirmed.
4. Performance comparisons
Published values are reproduced as claims of their issuing source, subject to normal transcription and rounding. A comparison must preserve the product and shade, substrate type and thickness, base-glass VLT, wavelength or spectral range, test or calculation method, film-only versus film-on-glass basis, source revision and publication date when disclosed. Values produced under materially different conditions are not ranked as laboratory equivalents.
TSER is treated as the preferred first-look heat metric, not a universal real-world guarantee. IRER is separated from narrow-band, single-wavelength, meter-based and selectively calculated infrared claims. Darker film is not credited with superior technology merely because lower visible transmission can raise solar rejection.
5. Evidence status
Evidence status evaluates the public record for an individual film family, not product quality and not a brand as a whole. Fully published means explicit shade-level TSER and IRER plus glass, method and wavelength are stated. Limited means useful performance data is present but a material condition is missing. Claim only means a performance claim appears without enough public context to inspect it. Not published means no useful current public performance figure was found. The status is computed from the fields shown on the row and may improve whenever verifiable public documentation is added.
Comparable is reserved for the relationship between selected films whose published test bases match. A fully published film is not automatically comparable to another fully published film.
6. Forums, social media and anonymous sources
Reddit, TintDude, Facebook groups and installer conversations are used to identify recurring questions, field experience and potential source trails. Public summaries distinguish firsthand use from hearsay. Private-group identities, screenshots and verbatim comments are not republished without a separate editorial and privacy review. Anonymous sources may be used when they have direct knowledge and a legitimate need for protection; their claims require independent corroboration and are described with as much context as safety permits.
7. Opinion, analysis and reviews
Statements identified as analysis, interpretation, commentary or Mr. Window Tint's verdict reflect disclosed reasoning based on the available record. They are not presented as hidden assertions of fact. Strong language does not relax the evidence standard. Product experience is dated, vehicle- and installer-dependent, and separated from laboratory or manufacturer data.
8. Right of reply and pre-publication contact
When planned coverage makes a material adverse factual claim about a specific company or product, reasonable efforts will be made to seek comment when time and circumstances permit. Responses may be quoted, summarized or linked with relevant context. Declining to comment, failing to respond or providing an off-topic response will not be treated as proof of the underlying claim.
9. Corrections and versioning
Substantive factual errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Material corrections identify what changed and when. Clarifications improve precision without retracting accurate reporting. Updates add new facts. Silent edits are limited to spelling, grammar, formatting, link repair and changes that do not alter meaning. See the Corrections & Right of Reply page for the submission process.
10. Trademarks, documents and visual assets
Brand names, product names and logos are used nominatively to identify the subjects of reporting, comparison and commentary. Their appearance does not imply sponsorship, approval or affiliation. Source documents are linked to their publishers and quoted only to the extent reasonably necessary for reporting, criticism, verification and analysis. Rights remain with their respective owners.
11. Research tools and human accountability
Software-assisted search, extraction, transcription and analysis may be used to locate and organize material. Automated output is not itself a source. A human editor remains responsible for the wording, evidence label, publication decision, correction and final conclusion.
